True Friendship

I'm fresh from an overnight ADVENTURE with my high school buddies at Mambukal Mountain Resort, and my right foot's wrapped in an elastic bandage because... I slipped. God wanted me to boycott. LOL.

But anyway, I've been noticing lately that some people (actually just one of my friends) have been asking what a true friend is. And from that adventure I just had, well, I ended up with a lot of revelations!

So, here's a list (top 10 would be fun but that's quite cliché, now isn't it?) of what a true friend should be.

1. A true friend should accept you as who you are, and not just tolerate you. And then when he starts learning more about you, all he cares about is whether you're his friend or not, and not about who you are, what you like and what you look like.

2. In my religion class, the professor said that friendship is based on common interests. I beg to disagree. For me, true friendship is not based on common interests, but rather, the willingness of someone to learn what you like, and love it the way you do, or he wants to understand why you love it, and love the reason.

3. A true friend is someone who may or may not think like you, but damn he sure knows how the hell you think.

4. A true friend is bothered when he's walking in front you because he might leave you behind. He's bothered when he's walking behind you because he might be able to follow. But he's comfortable with walking beside you. He doesn't wait for you at the finish line, he runs with you toward it, no matter the pace.

5. True friendship is marked by the acceptance of each other's responsibility in compelling the other to be best he can be.

6. A true friend might not like to do something, but does it anyway because you think it's fun.

7. When you need a helping hand, a true friend doesn't hesitate to give it to you.

8. A true friend knows when you're in trouble (and being sarcastic about it) or just joking around.

9. Coming closer to where you are so that he can hear you without you having to strain your vocal chords marks a true friend.

10. A true friend protects you from yourself. (And this I got from Ren and Stimpy!)

Christmas Wishlist

Damn... I just saw a Christmas wishlist made by one of my friends and I was compelled to make one for myself. I categorized them into possible (or practically not too expensive) and impossible (the ones that takes a millionaire or even a billionaire to buy... or impossible non-material things that I can't have).

Possible
1. Trip to Bohol or wherever with my High School Barkada - Me and my high school peer group has been planning on going to Bohol or wherever on our own during the Christmas break. I hope it will push through because this coming Christmas may be the last one I'll spend in the Philippines in the next decade... or so I think...

2. Palm Treo 700p (or any competent PDA phone with QWERTY keyboard and MP camera) - After experiencing the ease of using PDA phones (especially with a QWERTY keyboard), I can't revert to a regular phone anymore. My P910i is already sooo two years ago (but still reliable, mind you)... somehow upgrading to a megapixel PDA phone would be good, and Palm always boasts ease of use. I've seen some reviews of Dopod too, and they're quite cool.

3. Good grades and a high GPA; A High NMAT score - this term was a bit more difficult (duh... I took 6 units each of Chemistry and Medical Physics! Plus my minor subject professors aren't too giving, even though it's Christmas), but I'm hoping to still be in the dean's list, at the very least. I hope that my stock knowledge is good enough to give me a high score on the NMAT (National Medical Admission Test), an exam I didn't really review for.

4. Classic Chuck Taylor's - Yeah... well suddenly I just want a pair for myself hahaha.

5. MP3 headphones - NOT earphones. I hate those things. The ones that came with my Ipod Nano make my ears ache (not from the sound, but because of the fit). So far I'm looking at Logitech's headphones but I'm not sure if they fit me.

Impossible
1. Easy admissions into a US Medical School - If only life was easy.

2. Gadget and Tech upgrade - yeah I'm a Tech Geek somewhat... If only I could get a Macbook Pro, a very nice PDA-phone, and uhm... Apple Video Ipod, then I'd be quite contented. I could also get a Yamaha Digital Piano... but if I had the opportunity I'd rather have an acoustic piano.

3. A condominium space all for me - perhaps a loft, or a 2 bedroom luxury condominium unit all for me, complete with a baby grand piano or an equally elegant upright, a study room, a jacuzzi, and minimalistic oriental-inspired interior design! Oh, and the services of a personal butler should be included in the package! hahaha
